On 17-18 July 2019, the Public Oversight Board, represented by Mr. Aldo Spahiu, Executive Director, was invited by the World Bank and the European Union as part of the EU FINSTAR project (Technical Assistance in Financial Sector’s Priority Areas, Ukraine) to provide training related to the regulatory framework and inspection methodology at the Public Oversight Board and the Professional Organization of Statutory auditors in Ukraine.
The Chairman of the Public Oversight Board of Ukraine, the Chairwoman of the Professional Organization of Statutory auditors in Ukraine, and the Quality Control Manager of OPAL also participated in this training.
The international institutions highly appreciated the work carried out by the Public Oversight Board in Albania during this training. Among other requests, both from them and the Ukrainian counterpart institution, POB was asked to be present for further continuous training as part of the professional development in Ukraine.
The Director of EU FINSTAR proposed that the regulatory framework of POB in Albania be translated into local languages and serve as a model for implementation in Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
During these days, Mr. Spahiu was also invited to the annual celebration of the Professional Organizations of Certified Accountants, attended by representatives of financial supervisory institutions and the former Deputy Minister of Finance, who made a special contribution to the legislative package in support of regulating the profession with a focus on public interest.
We feel honored for the healthy collaboration and international recognition not only from international counterpart institutions but also for the appreciation from the World Bank and the European Union for the work that the Public Oversight Board has done so far.
