Strengthening Audit and Reporting Quality in Albania!
“Challenges and Achievements of Public Oversight in Improving Audit and Financial Reporting Quality” was the theme addressed on November 19, 2024, in Tirana, in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Public Oversight Board (POB), and the World Bank.
The conference also brought together representatives of professional organizations, as well as local and international experts.
Organized by the POB in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and with the support of the World Bank, the event was held within the framework of the project “Strengthening Audit and Reporting Quality in Albania”, financed by Switzerland’s SECO and the European Union.
Coinciding with the 15th Anniversary of the establishment of the POB, the event highlighted the main developments of the Project, focusing on the impact of oversight and quality assurance control, with the goal of ensuring that statutory audits are conducted in a controlled, transparent, and diligent environment serving the public interest.
The Chair of the Public Oversight Board, Mr. Dritan Fino, described the conference as an opportunity to encourage stakeholders to collaborate in identifying practical solutions.
Concluding the discussions, Mr. Fino stated: “The issues addressed by field experts highlighted the need for further improvement of standards and knowledge, with the aim of enhancing audit quality and building stronger public trust.”
The conference was also greeted by Mr. Alam Asad, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions Practice Group at the World Bank, as a special guest.
