Strengthening the Quality of Auditing and Reporting in Albania!

“The Challenges and Achievements of public oversight in Improving the Quality of Auditing and Financial Reporting” was the topic discussed on 19 November 2024, in Tirana, in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Public Oversight Board, and the World Bank.

Also present at the conference were representatives of professional organizations, as well as local and international experts.

The conference, organized by the Public Oversight Board in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and supported by the World Bank, is part of the project "Strengthening the Quality of Auditing and Reporting in Albania," funded by the Swiss government (SECO) and the European Union.

The event, which coincided with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Public Oversight Board, addressed the main developments of the project, focusing on the impact of oversight and quality assurance control, with the aim of ensuring that statutory audits are conducted in a controlled, transparent, and careful environment that serves the public interest.

The Chairman of the Public Oversight Board, Mr. Dritan Fino, considered the conference an opportunity to encourage stakeholders to collaborate in identifying practical solutions.

At the end of the discussions, Mr. Fino stated, “The issues raised by the field experts highlighted the need to further improve standards and knowledge, aiming to enhance the quality of auditing and build stronger public trust”.

The conference was greeted by Mr. Alam Asad, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Growth, Finance, and Institutions at the World Bank, as a special guest.
